Wukong invited Lingji Bodhisattva to subdue the Yellow Wind King who was transformed by a yellow-haired marten. The three masters and apprentices came to the bank of the Flowing Sand River, and Wukong fought several times with Sha Wujing who was waiting for the pilgrims. Mu Zha, the apprentice of Guanyin, came and explained the situation, so Tang Seng accepted Sha Wujing as his apprentice, and the four masters and apprentices continued their journey to the west.
