Tianjin is located in the northeastern part of China's North China Plain, bordering Beijing to the west and the Bohai Sea to the east. Many rivers converge on this coastal plain, and the final main stream is called the Haihe River. The Haihe River connects the canal and the ocean, and also connects Tianjin's past and future, witnessing the city's recent century-long history.
